Literary Heroines; Or, I Take Quizzes

PhotobucketOne of my favourite time-kills on the interwebs are silly quizzes.

As of late, I've joined a Jane Austen book club, and have been inspired by such to discover deep, ingrained and unalienable truths about myself through various, extremely scientific, web tests.

A quick google-ing retrieves numerous choices, and the following were my selections and results:

Abebook's Literary Personality Quiz
says I'm Shakespeare's Juliet

Quiztron says I'm Anne Shirley

Quizilla says I'm Jane Eyre

This Quizilla quiz says I'm Ophelia

Hmmm... perhaps the internet is telling me I have multiple personalities?

I wonder: who is your favourite literary heroine? Or, least favourite?

It's really rather difficult for me to choose, but I think I very much like Anne Elliot. She may be my favourite.

Anne Elliot is my favorite Austen heroine (perhaps my favorite heroine, period). When I took the quizzes I got Hermione Granger, Elizabeth Bennett, Emma Woodhouse, and Catherine Barkley from A Farewell to Arms. Interesting...

I really like Anne Elliot too! There's a really good version of Persuasion put out by the BBC (starring Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds) if you haven't seen it yet. It's really quiet and a bit slow moving, but totally focused on the emotions of the characters. It's a beautiful film. And there is one fantastic line at the end of the movie that never fails to crack me up.

But of course, I also love Pride and Prejudice and Elizabeth Bennett. I can't stand the other Bennetts (even Jane, she has no personality). And Elinor Dashwood is another one that has a similar personality to my own.

I always had a soft spot for Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice, and Anne from Anne of Green Gables. But then I also love Portia from The Merchant of Venice! So many to choose from.

I, too, love Anne Elliot. But all of the heroines you seem to embody, according to web quizzes, share one characteristic that is very very different from one of Anne's defining characteristic. They all have an impulsive nature, and tend to make decisions mostly based in what they are feeling at that precise moment. Anne Elliot... is a very timid decision maker.

I took the quizzes as well, but none of them said "Anne Shirley", which left me a bit disappointed. I'd love to be as strong-willed and independent as Anne-with-an-e.

well, i took the quizzes and got: Eowyn (LOTR)
Anne Shirley
Elizabeth Bennett
Catherine Barkley

so definitely multiple personalities: motherly, adventurous fighter who enjoys being contrary. hm. :)

thanks canarygal - that was fun!
