Intelligence-Buster

I know that I know this, but sometime my brain farts.

The excitement with which I began Lucania (the most recent knit that's gobbling up time from the oft-neglected Lodestar) has now waned because I made an unintelligent yarn selection.

I really do quite like Patons SWS - I'm not sure I'd use it for a sweater that's meant to be up against skin, but the minuscule itch factor can probably be dealt with by a conditioning bath.

No, my error was in the hue-choice. Once again, my exuberance got the best of me and I bought (what I thought was) the prettiest colour of SWS at my local Michaels and trotted off home to knit up the vest.
A vest that's supposed to have cable-y detail and a bit o' bobble action.

Hrrmmm....

Here be a photo of it so far:

What ya think? Should I proceed with this colour, or am I working for naught? Colour choice change?

I don't think there's any problem with the colour - it's light enough to show cable details and such. I think it might just be that SWS is intrinsically cable-devouring. I like it too, but stitch definition is not its strong point.

I agree with cyn. I think it migyt be the SWS that's the issue.. not the hue.

It's looking lovely though, if that helps.. :)

I third the opinion of the ladies who commented before me -- it seems to be the yarn, not the color (which is lovely, btw). But I don't even think it's that bad, especially in the photo of you wearing the WIP. The ribbing seems to be much more defined when stretched a bit -- is it the same case with the cables?

I wonder if you can put it on waste yarn and dunk/block what you have already before giving up on it? I've partially blocked things like that before. Personally, I don't see a problem, but *you* have to be happy with it! :-)

I think it looks nice. I think it's subtle which isn't bad, except that you want the cables to pop. Like those that commented before me - it just might be the yarn choice.

Thanks so much everyone!

Perhaps it's better that it's more subtle - as I've mentioned before, I have a love/hate relationship with the bobble.

Hopefully I'll have more to show soon.

With that yarn your cables look a litle, erm, vagina-y. I'm just sayin'. And if that's what you are going for, great! Vaginas are cool. But somehow, I'm sure thats not what youre aiming for...

LOL! I can see that... Perhaps moreso if the yarn was a more flesh-like colour... less green.
