Making Me Readable; Or, How to Improve This Here Bloggy

Hey everyone,

I’ve had my blog for over 5 years now. I love writing, posting, and otherwise sharing with the knitting community. I’m always very excited to publish new posts!

But, I have wondered: how can I make this blog better?

If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to know:

What makes you return to a certain blog?
What encourages your loyal readership?

What would you like to see on CanaryKnits?
Is there a feature, idea, etc that you think would improve it?

Thanks so much for your input!

Hi - I really like your blog. I will admit that I started reading it because of the name and the pictures of the canary, but I like your Indie Designer Days, and the way that you just talk about things, instead of only about knitting or only about your knitting successes.

Happy Blogiversary!

Like the previous comment, I also enjoy when you talk about random events and things you come across interspersed with the knitting. I think its what keeps me coming back, but I must say that lately I have been missing your birds.

Love your indie designer day -- fell in love with many of your choices. Can't think of anything else right now -- but I'll put my kitty thinking cap on.

I'm not sure I can offer much useful information, because while subject matter might bring me to a blog (I'm pretty sure I came to your through some sort of knitting-related method), to keep me coming, I guess I just need to like the writing style, or the evident personality of the blogger. I like yours, so I stayed. :)

Like another commenter said, Indie designer day really captured me. i find designers I wouldn't have known about. Also, it's fun. I like that you post frequently, even when it's a short post about pumpkins. And, when I first found you after Brave New Knits came out, you did that awesome piece about color that I now want to revisit. I like blogs that make me think, and that connect the love I have for knitting to art, history, or philosophy. Thank you for being so readable.

I just discovered your blog and will return. I like to read blogs that mix knitting and personal comments. Nice, simple pictures are a plus, too.

P.S. How do I sign up for email notices for your blog?

I usually come to a blog for the knitting, and stay for the personality. Once you've captured me, I'll never leave! I enjoy whatever you write about because I enjoy your writing style and your photos and I feel like you let your readers know you a little bit. It's a very warm place to be!

I also love seeing what you've been knitting because you're so creative and come up with such cool ideas (newest Little Seasonals designs included).

I love seeing sneak peaks of your designs and super love the indie designer of the week. I get to see a lot of patterns that I wouldn't necessarily come across myself. You're doing an awesome job :)
