Welcome to Ottawa.
I had a beautiful time in Ottawa. I'll let the pictures do the talking.
After several attempts at self-portraiture, I decided the best route was a ridiculous face. Peace Tower in the distance, happy golden Pithy Hat in the foreground.
Pretty view from my 6th floor room at the inn.
Me, kitted out for the day. Note the mini sweater. (Warning: obligatory knitting/crafting content ahead).
Later that day, at the Canadian War Museum, a woman came up to me and asked if I had made that "beautiful sweater". Knitters know, she said. And indeed she was - she pulled out from her purse the current project. Knitters rule school.
And crochet is cool for school too - here you see a hand-crocheted scarf by Queen Victoria herself. The explanatory panel can also be seen below.
One of the many idyllic courtyard/squares in the Byward Market.
Major's Hill Park, Parliament in background.
The National Gallery, seen through trees in Major's Hill Park.
Bourgeois' Maman, out in front of the National Gallery.
... and from beneath.
Beautiful trees surrounding Parliament Hill.
And a view out across the river to Gatineau. The Canadian Museum of Civilization is in the middle.
The locks on the Rideau Canal.
Parliament Hill, this time from the front.
Eternal flame.
War memorial.
Scarlet leaves outside the Museum of Civilization. Parliament Hill is fuzzy in the background.

Beautiful photos, I can't say which I like better seeing the Eternal Flame, the sculpture, or the lovely red leaves. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
I'm so glad the pics turned out. I was going camera-crazy for a while there!
Good pictures! It's so cool that you accosted by another knitter! We are everywhere and will take over the earth! Mwa ha ha...
It looks like a great trip! And your hat looks gorgeous.
I've wanted to accost knitters before, but I'm too shy.
I'm the same way - we really should accost other knitters. It feels good for the accostsee!
Nice photos of Ottawa. I live here and it's really cool to see "home" depicted so artfully. Out of curiosity, have you been to any of the yarn shops here in Ottawa?
(btw, I've been checking your blog for the past month or so - I found you via Craftster. You knit beautiful things!)
Thanks so much! You live in a beautiful city - I'm very envious :)
I have unfortunately not gone to any yarn shops in Ottawa. I've only been to the city twice, and had only a weekend each time. I know theres at least two, but they're outside my circle of knowledge in the city. I only know around the Hill and Market.
I hope to come again and experience the yarn shops - I've heard good things.
I did, of course, make it to Sassy Beads. Right down the street from the B&B :)
Sassy beads is indeed a neat store. If you ever come back and want a guide to anything (yarn stores, museums, etc.) I'd be more than willing. (On craftster I'm PrincessJazz.)
Thanks so much!
I'd definitely like to come back to the city :)
