Reasons To Be Cheerful

In order to maintain an equilibrium of sanity, I make lists.

Sometimes, I think having a list of reasons to be cheerful is a useful tool in the fight against woe-to-me-ism. This list, of course, takes for granted all those most basic needs of humanity1. And having those in and of themselves are reasons enough to be cheerful, no?
But, on to my expanded list.

Reasons To Be Cheerful
Photobucket
-the knitting waiting for me at home
-my copy of Joy of Cooking, and the fact that there'll always be a recipe I've never made
-my bed
-a good cup of Horton's Cafe Mocha (happily pictured right.) Incidentally, to all you fellow countrypeople, I still haven't won a thing on Roll Up.
-the sometimes odd behaviour of little yellow birds
-my family and friends
-my favourite shoes (which will change on any given day!)
-the prospect that I have so much more to learn about so many very cool and interesting things
-the country I live in
-diversity
-men with a Scottish accent... it just makes me go dreamy
-polite, well-behaved children who give me hope for humanity's future
-knit night
-Jane Austen
-wine, cheese and delicious oatcakes
-family photo albums
-an empty notebook and all the potential it embodies
-colour
-the seemingly unending intricacies of the English language
-the random compliment (both offered and received)
-autumn
-my life-long pursuit of the perfect golden yarn
-thunderstorms
-fantastic British comedies
-art supply stores (not to mention office supply stores, wherein my proclivity towards über organization can be satiated)
-the fact that this list is as long as it is!

I'd like to encourage everyone to make a list. It's very good for the end-of-March blahs!!

I don't drink Tim's much (I really don't know how it happened, but somehow I've become a Starbucks girl, go figure), but my husband does, and he too is expressing irritation at not having won anything whatsoever this time around. In fact, I'm not sure I know anyone who has. It's a little weird. Fewer prizes on offer this year, maybe? Who knows.

In any case, I'm totally with you on the Scottish accents, well-behaved children, and the office supply store. Somehow, all my plans to get uber-organized never quite work out, but office supply stores let me pretend...

Awesome list. And, the perfect golden yarn -- one of my test knitters is using one right now that I looooove. She took such amazing pics of it too.

What a wonderful practice, listing things you're cheerful about. It's so true...having food/water/shelter/clothing should make people cheerful enough, but it seems that with those necessities already taken care of, we (definitely I) somehow find negative ickiness to focus on instead of the happy luxuries of life. Reading your list gave me an instant cheer. And I'm right there with you on the boys with Scottish accents!!

I love lists. Sometimes I will add things just to cross them off. Recently i found out other people do this too so i don't feel so bad :P it just feels nice to be able to cross something off and really it should have been on the list anyway!

I have only one 1 coffee. With the amount I bought this time around I thought I would have won at least another one or a donut. So very frustrating! I still insist there should be a prize everytime. At least a timbit! Really they throw out enough of them at the end of the day, I don't think it would hurt them that much.
