Music Me-likes: A Song That Reminds Me of a Certain Event, and A Song I Can Dance To

Now morphing into an every fourth day post, here's my next two choices for music me likes:

A Song that Reminds me of a Certain Event:

It was my high school grad dance. Of all the people to randomly pull me onto the dance floor, it was a dude I'd had a crush on in grade nine. It was so funny and ironic. Of course he decides to dance with me when the crush was years gone!
The song we were dancing to?

Spirit of the West's "Home for a Rest"

And to continue the dancing theme....

I can dance to anything because I'm awesome that way :)

So, I'm making the executive decision to retool this day into "A Song I Really Like Dancing To", with a bonus selection for "A Song I Wish I Could Find a Partner To Dance To" (really, who wouldn't want to be flung about a dance floor to Jump Jive and Wail?)

Shakira "Hips Don't Lie"

Brian Setzer Orchestra "Jump, Jive and Wail"

What a great story! I wonder if he had been secretly harboring a crush for you all those years and had never known your feelings in 9th grade!

I think it's so funny how memories of old crushes can pop up, even after we've found our true loves. My sophomore year, I had a big crush on a senior boy who hardly knew I existed. One time, at an event put on by a club we were both members of, he spent the better part of an evening playing Wonderwall by Oasis on his guitar and I kept listening from afar and thinking he was sooo cool. These days, we know each other pretty well (our parents are good friends), we're both happily married, and I'm very glad I ended up with who I did. But I swear every time I hear Wonderwall, I feel that same sad longing I felt in high school and have to snap myself out of it!

love it!! G is British, and when we were in a pub once, the band started playing Home for a Rest and the pub went wild. G was mystified- he had never, ever heard that song before. some things are pretty Canadian, I guess!
