Angry Ives

Way too funny, here is Ives beaking off while sitting on Butter's cage. Beneath him, right at the bottom, you can see Butters looking up at Ives and wondering what he's all angry about!

I found your blog through Craftster, and see that you have lots of Canaries. My parents had up to 80 and bred them (before my dad passed). But here's why I'm writing, I have a 10 year old male who appears to have had a 'stroke' He no longer flies, and only sits on a low perch, he also seems to be blind in one eye now... have you ever heard of such a thing?

Hi my little corner! I'm not sure about your canary. I had one who died a few months ago, and so I've seen first hand what a sick canary looks like. He was only about a year and a half old. I wish I had had him for as long as you've had your guy!
I've never heard of a canary stroke, but I don't see why it couldn't happen. When I have questions about canaries I usually go to www.robirda.com. She has a lot of free, useful information.

Thank you for the link. I'll check it out. My guy eats and drinks very well and has lots of spunk, he just moves around like Quasimoto... there were some photos of him on my blog. Thanks for your help!
You have such nice birds, you must love all the singing they reward us with.

Dear canarysactuary - I've posted some pictures today on my blog today for you. The other ones were back in early November. Something happened to him on November 3rd. Thanks again, for your interest.
BTW, you have taken excellent photos of your birds. Nice and clear. Good colours and the fact that you managed to catch them in flight was good too. I love how softly they fly. Don't you? And such personalities - I could talk for hours....

I'm replying to the answer you left on my blog: My parents were canary breeders, my father picked him for me because he was a great singer. Yes, everything's normal except now he doesn't sing, can't fly, is blind in one eye and has some balance issues. I need to give him a bath because he spends time on the floor, but I change his papertowel daily. So sorry to hear about your birdie. The sad thing is often when they start to show signs of illness, they go so fast. It's such a shame.
