After finding myself drooling over stitch markers on etsy and craftster, I decided to try my hand at it.
Here is the product of one crazy evening of clay baking.
Which is the clay, and which is the sugar?
Lemon pie...
Pumpkin pie!
Key lime pie?
Grapes
Green peppers. What can I say, I had a lot of green.
Chicken bone!
Chocolate-drizzled ice cream.
For all those out there who've made such items in the past, I have a question:
what did you use for the actual "loop" that goes over the needles, and how did you attach it? The solution I've come up with now is fishing line, super-glued into the holes made in the markers by the metal hooks (some of which you can see in the images).
I'm not sure if this will hold.
I recommend this to everyone. I felt like I was in kindergarten again!
Ideas are a-bubblin' in me noggin.
More to follow quite soon indeed....
AND!
guess who just got an invite to Ravelry!!

Very neat markers! I think the key lime pie looks more like cheesecake, but that might just be the power of suggestion..I luuuuuv cheesecake! And I am Csquared on Ravelry. Look me up!
Cool! Thanks. I just had the green, and the mixed "pie crust", so made, what is essentially, green clay pie.
mmm...
key lime cheesecake.
Those are cute! My sister and make those and we superglue the eyepin into the hole so it doesn't fall out and then use jump rings for the loop--a larger one for the needle to go through and a small one to connect the large one to the eyepin.
I just friended you on ravelry. I've watched your blog for a long time and have actually checked a couple of times to see if you were on there yet so I'm glad you got your invite.
Thanks for the tip, gina. I can't wait to play with ravelry!
Those look great! I can't get the clay to obey me that well. My favorite are the pumpkins.
Thanks :) The secret is setting them in the freezer for a bit - makes the clay easier to work with.
Oh, those are sooooo cute! I love the pies! <3<3<3
I've made beaded stitchmarkers, but not polymer. I don't know how I'd attached them to clay. I think your glue idea is probably the best, unless you want to put a beading pin all the way through the bottom to the top...
And welcome to the fun that is Ravelry!
