Sewing and Snow

Say hello to the world's oldest "working" sewing machine. With a red Christmas tree light to illuminate your work, and a hefty weight of (probably) over 20lbs, this sucker needed replacement. (I say it's from the 40s. That's just based on the design, but what do I know about the design of sewing machines?)
Here's the replacement. Due to the power outage today, I wasn't able to play with it. But I certainly hope within the next few days I'll be trying to sew those straight seams.
And, here's the proof of the arrival (finally!) of winter.

Same here! Work was closed yesterday, but opened today.
Oh yes, it does have a snappy case. Oh yes, it's old :)

Oooh, winter. I want winter as well, not crappy springtime weather in January! *sob*
Have fun with your new sewing machine! I guess I should get mine finally working... ;P

So I have now finally seen the snow. No time to read much else but at least there is now proof I looked.

Cool - I found another knitter who's interested in sewing too! I just finished my first skirt and am really happy with it. The new sewing machine looks really cool, but I like the old one too. My machine is from the late 80s (Viking 960) - bought it on Ebay two years ago and it's worked great. It has a snap-on case too!

It certainly has a "retro charm". The design is pretty cool, but I thought I'd paper myself with a new one :)
